The short verdict
The best mattress in Canada for most people is the Douglas Summit Hybrid. It was the top-scoring Canadian mattress in NapLab’s independent testing (9.44), Douglas as a brand holds 4.8 stars from more than 2,200 Trustpilot reviews (a brand-wide score covering all six Douglas models), and it comes with a 365-night trial and a 15-year warranty. It is medium-firm — NapLab measured 6/10 — with strong pressure relief and motion isolation, which makes it a natural fit for side and back sleepers and for couples.
There is one thing you should know before you buy it, and most Canadian review sites won’t tell you: Douglas is owned by GoodMorning.com, a company that also runs mattress-review websites. That is exactly why so many “best mattress Canada” lists put Douglas first. We rank it first anyway, because the evidence that doesn’t come from GoodMorning — NapLab’s test scores and thousands of Trustpilot reviews — points the same way. But we’d rather you hear it from us than find out later.
If the Summit is more than you want to spend, the Silk & Snow Hybrid is our value pick: a full coil hybrid from C$890 in its smallest size (27 Oct 2026), or C$1,030 list for a Medium-Firm queen on the brand’s archived June 2026 page (C$875.50 during the 15%-off sale then), with a 365-night trial and a 15-year warranty that is free for the first ten years. If you want an all-foam mattress made in Canada that you can order on Amazon.ca, the Endy is the one. And if you have your heart set on a US brand, Puffy is the only one of the big American names we cover that currently ships to Canada, through puffy.ca.

How we built this list: we don’t run a mattress lab, and we haven’t slept on these beds. We read what independent testers published — NapLab, which tests a large number of mattresses and publishes a Canadian-specific ranking; Sleep Foundation; Mattress Clarity; Sleepopolis; and RTINGS where it has tested a model sold here — including the Canadian version of the Puffy Lux — and set it against what owners report on Trustpilot. Our general scoring method is on the how we rate page. Because RTINGS hasn’t tested most Canada-only mattresses, we can’t give these beds the same 0–10 sub-scores we use in our US best-mattress ranking, so we lean on the agreement between independent testers and on owners’ service experiences instead.

Why only four? Because the Canadian market is smaller than the US or UK one, and the honest list of beds with both strong independent test results and a usable owner record is short. We would rather recommend four mattresses we can back with evidence than pad the list with brands whose only praise comes from sites that earn a commission on them — or, in Canada’s case, sites that are owned by the brand.

Two caveats on that grid. First, if you weigh more than about 230 lb (104 kg), the Endy isn’t the right bed: Sleep Foundation says it isn’t for most people over 230 lb. Silk & Snow’s limit is a little higher — NapLab advises caution above 250 lb (113 kg) and a different mattress above 300 lb. The Canadian Puffy Lux is the odd one out: RTINGS rates this firm all-foam bed 7.6–7.7 for average and heavier stomach and back sleepers, but scores its durability just 5.3, so expect the foam to soften sooner under more weight. The Douglas Summit is the strongest all-round option for heavier sleepers, though owners and testers note its edges compress under heavier bodies. Our best mattress for heavy people guide covers the US beds built for higher weights.
Second, if you sleep on your stomach, choose carefully. Sleep Foundation says the Douglas isn’t a great fit for most stomach sleepers, and the Silk & Snow is described as too soft for front sleeping. The Endy now comes in a 9-inch Firm version aimed at exactly this group, and NapLab recommended even the Medium-Firm for moderate-weight stomach sleepers. The Puffy Lux sold in Canada is the firmest bed here by RTINGS’ measurement and its best sleeping position is the stomach (7.6) — but it is also the priciest and least durable of the four.

The pattern is clear. Canadian direct-to-consumer brands compete hard on policies: all four now offer 365-night trials, and warranties run from 15 years to lifetime. That is more generous than most of the UK and Australian brands we cover. Where they differ is in build and price. The Douglas Summit and Silk & Snow are coil hybrids; the Endy and the Canadian Puffy Lux are all-foam — and despite sharing a name with Puffy’s US hybrid, the Lux sold on puffy.ca is a firm, six-layer foam bed priced like a premium one. If you want the full picture on hybrids versus foam, our memory foam vs hybrid guide explains which suits which sleeper.
Conflicts of interest: read this before any Canadian mattress review
Canada’s mattress-review scene has an unusual problem. Some of the most visible “review” and “best of” sites are not independent at all. We think readers deserve to know who owns what, so here is everything we found that could colour the evidence on this page — including where it affects our own picks.
- Douglas is owned by GoodMorning.com, which also operates mattress-review websites. When you see Douglas topping list after list in Canadian search results, some of those lists may be published by sites under the same ownership. We discount any recommendation that comes from a GoodMorning-run site, and our Douglas ranking rests on NapLab’s test score and Trustpilot instead.
- Endy is owned by Sleep Country Canada, the national mattress retailer, which bought it in 2018 — and Sleep Country itself has been owned by Fairfax Financial since October 2024. That isn’t a conflict in the reviews themselves, but it does mean Endy is not the scrappy independent start-up it once was, and its policies can change with the parent’s strategy.
- Endy’s trial changed recently. It was 100 nights for years; endy.com now lists a 365-night trial (since November 2025) and a 15-year warranty. Older reviews still quote the 100-night figure, so go by endy.com at checkout.
- Douglas’s 4.8★ Trustpilot score is brand-wide, covering all six Douglas models, not the Summit Hybrid alone. The same is true of every Trustpilot score on this page.
- Puffy’s Canadian Lux is not the US Lux. Most Puffy Lux reviews you’ll find test the US hybrid; RTINGS tested the Canadian model separately and found a firm all-foam bed.
- Puffy’s Trustpilot score is the US brand page, not a Canadian one. Its 3.2 from 158 reviews reflects mostly American customers, and Canadian service may route through the US.
- We earn affiliate commission on some links, including on this page. Commissions don’t affect rank — see our disclosure — and we flag the conflicts above whether or not we have a relationship with the brand.

#1 · Best overall (CA)
Douglas Summit Hybrid
Hybrid
6/10 · Medium-firm — Medium-firm (6/10, NapLab)
The Douglas Summit Hybrid is the upgraded, coil-based version of the original all-foam Douglas mattress. In NapLab’s Canadian ranking it posted the highest score of any Canadian mattress it tested, 9.44, with strong pressure relief and motion isolation. NapLab measured it at 6/10 firmness — a true medium-firm — which is the range clinical research favours for most back sleepers and the sweet spot for side sleepers of average weight. It is also one of six Douglas mattresses: the Original, Alpine and Summit each come in foam (C$799, C$999 and C$1,299 for a queen) and hybrid (C$949, C$1,149 and C$1,449) versions. Our full Douglas mattress review walks through all six.
Note that the Sleep Foundation verdict shown on this card is for the original Douglas foam mattress (C$799), not the Summit. It says the original suits back sleepers between 130 and 230 lb and isn’t ideal for most stomach sleepers. We include it because it tells you about the brand’s foams and feel, but don’t read it as a Summit review.
Don’t confuse the Summit Hybrid with the Original on feel. The Original is the low-bounce foam bed; NapLab measured the Summit Hybrid’s rebound at 11.22 inches, which it classes as high, and only 1.98 inches of sinkage. That makes it easy to move on, but you lie on top of it rather than in it — the trade-off if you want a deep hug. NapLab also flagged roughly 14 days of off-gassing, and edges can compress under heavier people. And then there is the ownership question covered above. Even after discounting every GoodMorning-owned source, the Summit still has the best independent test score in our Canadian set, and Douglas has the best Trustpilot record — 4.8 stars from 2,229 reviews, though that figure covers every Douglas model, not just the Summit. One owner summed it up as “Amazing sleep from night one.” For a Douglas mattress review you can trust, that combination is what we’d weigh most.

#2 · Best value hybrid (CA)
Silk & Snow Hybrid
Hybrid · 4 lb high-density memory foam over zoned Canadian-made pocket coils (brand: “1,200+”; June 2026 spec: 1,000 in a queen) · Firm / Medium-Firm / Plush
6/10 · Medium-firm — Medium-firm (6/10 NapLab; 6.5 Mattress Clarity)
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is the best hybrid mattress in Canada for the money. Silk & Snow’s current page (27 Oct 2026) describes 4 lb high-density memory foam over “1,200+” Canadian-made pocket coils of double-tempered Canadian steel; its June 2026 spec table lists gel memory foam over 9-inch (about 23cm) zoned pocket coils in the Firm and Medium-Firm, and 8-inch coils in the Plush; NapLab and Mattress Clarity describe 8-inch coils on the units they tested, so the bed has evidently been revised. Both NapLab (6/10) and Mattress Clarity (6.5/10) measured it as medium-firm. NapLab scored it 8.86, calling it an affordable hybrid with good edges, though it felt cooling could be better. Mattress Clarity was more positive on temperature, describing it as well-rounded across cooling, motion isolation and support.
The brand’s archived June 2026 page listed a Medium-Firm queen at C$1,030 (C$875.50 at the 15% off it was running then), with the Firm at C$925 and the Plush at C$1,495; on 27 October 2026 the Hybrid started from C$890 in its smallest size, with a free Classic Sleep Bundle of bedding instead of a cash discount — still well under the Douglas Summit’s C$1,449 for the feel most people should buy, with coils and a 365-night trial. The 15-year warranty is really ten free years: in years 11 to 15 you pay 75% of the original price for a repair or replacement, and both the warranty and the trial are void if the mattress leaves the country where you bought it. The other downsides: the Medium-Firm is too soft for stomach sleepers, NapLab advises caution for sleepers over 250 lb and a different bed over 300 lb, and customer service gets mixed reviews. Its 3.7 Trustpilot score from 522 reviews includes both “Exceptional Customer Service” and “Poor customer service, I can’t recommend this company.” If you’re a side or back sleeper on a budget, the Silk & Snow mattress is the hybrid we’d buy. Our full Silk & Snow review compares all three feels and the brand’s foam and Organic beds.

#3 · Best Canadian-made foam / on Amazon.ca
The Endy Mattress
All-foam · Plush 11″ / Medium-Firm 10″ / Firm 9″
7/10 · Firm — Medium-firm version: 7/10 (NapLab)
The Endy is the best-known Canadian mattress in a box — a 10-inch all-foam bed that NapLab rated 7/10 for firmness and scored 9.09, citing responsive foam, low motion transfer and strong value. Sleep Foundation gave it 8.9/10, with pressure relief at 8.5 and motion isolation at 8.0. It now comes in three versions — Plush (11 inches), Medium-Firm (10 inches) and Firm (9 inches) — and the Medium-Firm is the one the testers reviewed. If your main problem is a partner whose every turn wakes you up, this is the pick; our best mattress for couples guide explains why foam beats coils for that job.
In any honest Endy mattress review, the weaknesses are the usual ones for all-foam: Sleep Foundation scored its edges 6.5 and its durability 5.5, several testers say it runs warmer than a hybrid, and it isn’t built for people over 230 lb. It’s made in Canada, ships free across the country, and is listed on Amazon.ca. The trial is now 365 nights on endy.com, with a 15-year warranty, and on Trustpilot Canada Endy holds 4.3 from 315 reviews. Our full Endy mattress review covers all three feels and the Elevate Hybrid.
What owners & testers like
- Canadian-made (Sleep Country, owned by Fairfax)

Watch out for
- Can sleep warm
- Edges 6.5, durability 5.5 (Sleep Foundation)

- Sleep Foundation

#4 · Best US brand that ships to Canada
Puffy Lux (Canadian all-foam version)
All-foam · 6 layers · 12.2in
7.5/10 · Firm — Firm (RTINGS 67 Pa/mm; ~7.5/10 is our conversion; puffy.ca says medium-plush)
Puffy is the only one of the big US mattress brands we cover that ships to Canada, through puffy.ca. But the Puffy Lux sold on puffy.ca is not the hybrid most reviews describe. Puffy.ca lists it as a six-layer memory foam mattress, and RTINGS tested the Canadian version separately: all-foam, 12.2 inches, and Firm at 67 Pa/mm — even though puffy.ca markets a “medium-plush” feel. RTINGS scored its edge support and motion isolation 8.3 each, and rated it best for average and heavier stomach (7.6) and back (7.5) sleepers, with side sleeping trailing at 7.1. Our Puffy Lux review covers the US hybrid, whose numbers don’t apply here.
The concerns are durability and value. RTINGS scored its durability just 5.3 and said none of the foam used is good quality, which can lead to indentations and sagging; puffy.ca lists it from C$1,499 without stating which size that price is for. Service may also route through the US. The 365-night trial and lifetime warranty soften the risk. Buy it if you are an average or heavier stomach or back sleeper who wants a firm foam bed with strong edges; skip it if you sleep on your side, run hot, or want the most mattress for your dollar.
What owners & testers like
- 365-night trial
- Lifetime warranty
- Great edges and motion isolation (RTINGS 8.3)
Watch out for
- Low-quality foams — RTINGS durability 5.3
- Not ideal for side sleepers (RTINGS 7.1)
- Different bed from the US Lux Hybrid
Best for
👍 Average/heavier back & stomach sleepers, couplesNot best for
✋ Side sleepers, lighter people, hot sleepers, value huntersWhat expert reviewers concluded

Trustpilot: which brands Canadian owners trust
A mattress you love can still become a nightmare if it arrives damaged, late, or needs to go back. Trustpilot is the best public record of how brands handle those moments. Here is how our picks compare.
Trustpilot scores, Canada picks (brand-level)
Out of 5. Review count in brackets: small samples swing wildly. A service signal, not a comfort score.
4.0+ good3.0–3.9 mixedunder 3 — read the complaints first
The gap is big. Douglas sits at 4.8 from more than 2,200 reviews — an excellent record. Endy holds a solid 4.3 from 315 reviews on its Canadian profile, Silk & Snow is in the mixed band at 3.7, and Puffy sits at 3.2 from 158 reviews on its US page.
Two caveats. Trustpilot scores are brand-level, so they cover every product a brand sells, not just the mattress we recommend. And Trustpilot attracts people who had an unusually good or bad experience — the quiet majority who simply sleep well rarely post. That’s why we never rank on owner ratings alone; in our US scoring method, owner ratings make up 20% of the overall score, and brand-run review widgets count for a quarter as much as independent platforms.
Canadian mattress sizes: twin, queen, king & more
Canada uses the same size names as the US, and the dimensions are essentially the same, though Canadian retailers often quote them in centimetres. That makes shopping easier than in the UK or Australia: US sheets, toppers and protectors fit Canadian beds.
| Size | Centimetres | Inches | Surface area |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twin / single | 96.5 × 190.5 | 38 × 75 | |
| Twin XL | 96.5 × 203 | 38 × 80 | |
| Double / full | 137 × 190.5 | 54 × 75 | |
| Queen | 152.5 × 203 | 60 × 80 | |
| King | 193 × 203 | 76 × 80 | |
| California king | 183 × 213.5 | 72 × 84 |
A twin mattress (also called a single, 38 × 75 inches) is the standard for children’s rooms and bunk beds. Taller teenagers and adults should look at a twin XL, which adds five inches of length. A double or full (54 × 75 inches) works for one adult who likes space but is tight for two.
The queen mattress (60 × 80 inches) is the most popular size in Canada and the one every price on this page refers to unless stated. It gives a couple 30 inches each — roughly the width of a crib — which is fine for many but snug if one of you sprawls. A king mattress (76 × 80 inches) gives each sleeper 38 inches, the width of a twin, and is the size we’d recommend for couples with a restless partner. A California king trades four inches of width for four inches of length, so it’s only worth it if you’re very tall.
For a full international comparison — Canadian, US, UK and Australian sizes side by side — see our mattress sizes guide.
Mattress in a box in Canada: what to know
All four of our picks ship compressed and rolled in a box, which is how most Canadians now buy mattresses online. A mattress in a box is easier to get up narrow stairs and into condo elevators, and it usually ships free. The trade-offs are the same everywhere: the mattress needs a day or two to fully expand, and new foam often has a smell for the first few days.
The phrase “mattress in a box” covers very different beds. The Endy and the Canadian Puffy Lux are all-foam: they isolate motion well (RTINGS gave the Puffy 8.3), but foam can sleep warm. The Douglas Summit and Silk & Snow Hybrid are hybrids, with coils under the foam. Hybrids are heavier and often more expensive, but they breathe better and are easier to move around on. If you’re searching for the best mattress in a box in Canada and you’re a hot sleeper, start with the hybrids; if motion isolation matters most, start with the Endy. Our dedicated best mattress in a box Canada guide ranks the boxed beds on their own, and our best hybrid mattress Canada guide goes deeper on the coil beds, including Endy’s Elevate Hybrid and Logan & Cove.

A practical tip: before you unbox, check the trial’s fine print on returns. Most brands will arrange pickup or donation if you return within the trial, but some require a minimum break-in period first. That matters especially for the Endy, whose trial only moved from 100 to 365 nights in late 2025 — make sure your order shows the new terms.
Firmness for your body and sleeping position
Firmness is the single most important thing to get right, and it depends on how you sleep and what you weigh. Research is surprisingly consistent here. In Kovacs’ randomised trial published in The Lancet in 2003, people with chronic low-back pain did better on a medium-firm mattress than a firm one. A later systematic review by Radwan and colleagues reached a similar conclusion: medium-firm mattresses were best for comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment.
- Side sleepers: medium (around 5–6/10) so shoulders and hips can sink. Endy Plush if you’re lighter; Douglas Summit or Silk & Snow if you’re average weight. Skip the Canadian Puffy Lux — RTINGS measured it as firm. If your current bed is simply too firm, a topper may fix it for far less; see our best mattress topper Canada guide.
- Back sleepers: medium-firm (6–7/10). Douglas Summit is the best fit.
- Stomach sleepers: firm (7+/10). The Endy Firm, or the Canadian Puffy Lux if you’re average weight or heavier (RTINGS stomach score 7.6).
- Over 230 lb: go firmer, and prefer coils. The Douglas Summit is the strongest option on this list.
- Couples: prioritise motion isolation — Endy or Douglas.
Firmness ratings are also relative to body weight. A lighter person feels a mattress as firmer than a heavier person does, because they don’t sink in as far. That is why the same bed can be called “medium” by one tester and “firm” by another. If you’re unsure, take our 30-second mattress finder — it recommends US models, but the target firmness it calculates works for any Canadian brand too.
What about Saatva, DreamCloud, Casper or Purple in Canada?
If you’ve read US reviews, you’ve seen Saatva, DreamCloud and Bear everywhere. As of the latest sources we checked, none of them sell in Canada: Saatva delivers only within the contiguous US, dreamcloudsleep.ca redirects to the US store, and nectarsleep.ca also redirects to the US store — so check carefully at checkout before you order. Puffy is the exception, shipping through puffy.ca.
You’ll also see people searching for Casper mattress Canada and Purple mattress Canada. We haven’t included either brand on this list, because we haven’t yet gathered enough Canada-specific test and owner data on them to rank them fairly. That isn’t a verdict against them — just a statement of what we can back with evidence today. Casper does sell here, through casper.ca (owned by Sleep Country Canada since 2023): on 27 October 2026 it listed The Casper foam mattress from C$999, the Original Hybrid from C$1,099 and the Wave Hybrid Snow from C$3,499, each in Plush, Medium or Firm, with a 100-night trial, a 10-year warranty and 15% off sitewide. That trial is a quarter of the 365 nights every pick above offers, which is the main reason we’d start with the Canadian brands. If you’re weighing a US brand against a Canadian one, our US best-mattress ranking has the lab data, and our UK and Australia guides cover the other markets.
Where and when to buy a mattress in Canada
Buy direct for the trial. The long trials and warranties on this page apply when you buy from the brand. If you buy through a third-party seller, including on Amazon.ca, check who the seller is and whether the brand’s trial still applies before you order.
Never pay full price. Canadian mattress brands discount often, and the biggest sales tend to cluster around Boxing Day, Black Friday and long weekends. Every Silk & Snow page capture we read showed a promotion — usually 15% off, which takes the Medium-Firm Hybrid queen from C$1,030 to C$875.50 — and the gap between list and sale prices can be large.
Give it three or four weeks. New foam firms up and softens as it breaks in, and your body takes time to adjust. Don’t judge a new mattress on night one — but do judge it before the trial ends. Keep the order confirmation, note the trial end date, and know the return process before you need it.
Know when to replace. Sleep Foundation’s guidance is that most mattresses last somewhere between six and eight years. If your current bed has a visible dip, or you wake up stiff and feel better after a night elsewhere, it’s time.
