Best Mattress Toppers Canada 2026: Prices in CAD, Return Rules Checked

We checked the topper pages of every Canadian brand and big-box store we could reach — Endy, Puffy Canada, Hush, Polysleep, Obasan, IKEA and more — for CAD prices, materials, trials and warranties, then matched them to what independent topper testing says actually works.

The short verdict

The best mattress topper for most Canadians is the Endy Dual-Comfort Mattress Topper. It’s 2 inches thick with soft memory foam on one side and firm high-density foam on the other, so the same topper can soften a hard bed or firm up a slightly soft one — Endy rates the soft side at about 5 out of 10 and the firm side at about 8. It costs C$250 for a queen, has corner straps and a removable, machine-washable cover, and comes with a 100-night trial and a five-year warranty. No other topper sold in Canada that we found offers all of that for the money.

If you want the topper with the strongest independent test record, buy the Puffy Deluxe from puffy.ca (C$434 queen list) — it’s TechRadar’s overall #1 in the US. If you run hot, the Hush Graph-Iced (C$499) is built around a phase-change cooling layer. If you need a firm mattress topper, the Polysleep Firm Topper (C$350) is designed for back and stomach sleepers, though it can’t be returned. If you want something made in Canada from natural materials, Obasan’s Ottawa-made wool and latex toppers are the pick. And on a tight budget, IKEA sells memory foam toppers from C$229 for a queen with a 365-day return window.

The rule that matters more than any brand: a topper cannot fix a sagging mattress. TechRadar puts it plainly — “if your bed is sagging, a topper won’t save it.” A topper changes how the surface feels; it doesn’t change the support underneath. If your bed has a dip or is past Sleep Foundation’s six-to-eight-year mark, read topper or new mattress before you spend C$400 on foam.

The best mattress toppers in Canada at a glance

Eight toppers made our Canadian list: four from direct-to-consumer brands that ship across Canada (Endy, Puffy, Hush and Polysleep), two from Canadian makers of natural wool and latex bedding (Obasan and Natural Mattress), and two from IKEA, the biggest bricks-and-mortar seller of toppers we could verify. Every price below is the queen list price on the brand’s own Canadian store, in Canadian dollars, checked in October 2026.

Two things stand out. First, trials vary far more for toppers than for mattresses. Every mattress on our best mattress Canada list carries a 365-night trial, but topper terms run from IKEA’s 365 days down to none at all at Polysleep and unopened-only returns at Obasan. Second, the generous mattress terms don’t carry over: Endy gives its mattress 365 nights and 15 years, but its topper gets 100 nights and five years. Read the topper’s own policy, not the brand’s headline.

How we picked (and what we didn’t do)

We don’t test toppers in a lab and we haven’t slept on these. Independent testing of Canadian-market toppers is thin: the big topper tests from Tom’s Guide, TechRadar and AARP are American, and most of the toppers they rank — Saatva, Tempur-Pedic, ViscoSoft, Lucid — aren’t sold direct in Canada. The one exception is the Puffy Deluxe, which ships here through puffy.ca. So for the Canadian picks, we leaned on what we could verify directly.

That meant reading each brand’s Canadian product page for materials and published specs (foam density where it’s given, latex certifications, thickness in inches and centimetres), CAD pricing by size, and terms: trial, returns and warranty. We then applied what the independent tests agree on — that toppers should usually be 2 to 4 inches thick, that latex outlasts memory foam, that denser foam lasts longer, and that “cooling” claims need a breathable material or cover to mean anything. Brand-hosted star ratings are reported but treated as weak evidence, as on our how we rate page.

We left out any topper we couldn’t confirm on a Canadian product page. That includes some you’ll see recommended elsewhere — Silk & Snow, Sleep Country’s in-store ranges, and the Costco and Amazon.ca bestsellers — because their pages wouldn’t load for us. The gaps section lists exactly what we couldn’t check.

Best mattress topper in Canada overall: Endy Dual-Comfort

Why: Two feels in one topper: Endy rates the soft side about 5/10 and the firm side about 8/10. Corner straps, a machine-washable cover and a trial — rare at this price in Canada.

Skip if: You want deep, plush cushioning — 2″ is a moderate change, not a transformation.

Check price at Endy Source: Endy, Endy

The Endy topper wins on flexibility. Most people buy a topper to fix a bed that feels wrong, and most aren’t sure whether “wrong” means too firm or too soft until they try something. Endy’s answer is a two-sided topper: memory foam on one side, which Endy says gives your bed a medium feel, and firm high-density foam on the other for a firmer surface. If the first side doesn’t work, flip it. It’s CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certified, has ventilated 3D-mesh sides, and is 2 inches thick in every size, so your existing fitted sheets should still go on.

The practical details are what separate it from cheaper foam. Adjustable corner straps keep it from creeping across the bed, and the cover zips off for the washing machine — something no IKEA topper’s foam and no Obasan topper offers in the same way. Endy’s own site shows 4.7 stars from 700 reviews; that’s brand-hosted, so treat it as a sign that buyers aren’t widely unhappy rather than a score.

Two cautions. The page is inconsistent on the trial — the feature list and the warranty page say 100 nights, but one badge says 30 — so confirm at checkout and keep your order confirmation. And the five-year warranty is only for toppers bought directly from endy.com; it covers indentations deeper than one inch, splitting foam and zipper defects, not comfort preferences. If you own an Endy mattress that turned out too firm, this is the cheapest fix that doesn’t mean returning the bed — though if you’re still inside its 365-night trial, an exchange is the better move.

Best memory foam topper in Canada

Memory foam is still the default topper material, and for side sleepers it’s usually the right one: it’s the most effective way to add slow, contouring pressure relief to a hard bed. Its known weaknesses are heat, the “stuck” feeling when you change position, and a shorter life — Tom’s Guide estimates two to five years, against five to fifteen for latex.

Why: The one topper here with independent test history: TechRadar’s overall #1 and Tom’s Guide’s best memory foam pick in the US, in soft or firm.

Skip if: You sleep hot, or weigh more than about 250 lb (113 kg).

Check price at Puffy Source: Puffy Canada, Tom’s Guide, TechRadar

The Puffy Deluxe is the best memory foam topper you can buy in Canada, and it’s the only pick here with serious independent testing behind it. TechRadar ranks it #1 overall and Tom’s Guide names it the best memory foam topper, praising a grippy base and full elastic skirt that keep it in place. On puffy.ca it costs C$434 for a queen at list, comes in soft or firm, and the page shows a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. Puffy’s US topper lists 101 nights, so confirm the Canadian terms at checkout. Our Puffy review covers the mattresses.

The same two warnings from the US testing apply here. Both TechRadar and Tom’s Guide say it traps heat, and Tom’s Guide says it may not be supportive enough for people over about 250 lb (113 kg). If either describes you, skip ahead to the cooling or latex picks.

The budget memory foam alternative is IKEA. NORDBERGET (C$229 queen) is 4.5 cm of memory foam that IKEA lists at 3.1 lb/ft³, and NÄSTABERG (C$249) adds a phase-change gel coating and a warm side and cool side. Both have washable covers, and NORDBERGET holds 4.0 stars from 353 ratings on ikea.ca. The catch is thickness: at 4.5 cm, or 1¾ inches, they’re below the 2-inch minimum Tom’s Guide recommends, and IKEA itself describes them as mattress pads. Expect a gentle softening, not a transformed bed.

#3 · Best cooling topper

Hush Graph-Iced Mattress Topper

hush.ca

Why: Hush built it for hot sleepers: a phase-change layer in the middle, graphite foam, and a removable, washable cooling cover over a non-slip base.

Skip if: You want firmness — Hush itself doesn’t pitch it as a firm topper — or you won’t pay C$499 for 2″.

“Cooling” is the most overused word in topper marketing. Testers routinely find gel-infused foam doesn’t feel noticeably cooler on its own; what works, in the independent tests we summarise on our US topper guide, is a breathable material like latex or wool, or a high-performance cover. The Hush Graph-Iced is the Canadian topper that takes cooling most seriously on paper: 2 inches of graphite-infused memory foam, a phase-change material (PCM) layer in the centre to absorb heat, and a removable Graph-Iced cover that Hush says “actively cools” and that goes in the washing machine.

It’s expensive for 2 inches — C$499 for a queen — and its on-site rating is a modest 3.9. Hush, a bedding brand that sells across Canada in CAD on hush.ca, backs it with a 100-night money-back guarantee, which makes it a reasonable gamble for hot sleepers. Pair it with breathable sheets; a cooling topper under polyester sheets is wasted money.

The natural alternative is wool. Obasan says its organic wool is “naturally temperature regulating” and moisture-wicking, and latex doesn’t trap heat the way dense memory foam does. If you run hot because your all-foam mattress holds heat, though, a topper is only a partial fix; our best mattress for hot sleepers guide explains why coil hybrids sleep cooler.

Best firm mattress topper in Canada

A firm topper is the most misunderstood product in this category. It can make a mattress that’s slightly too soft — but still flat — feel more supportive. It cannot firm up a mattress that sags, because the topper drapes into the dip. TechRadar says firming jobs call for a thicker topper made “ideally” from latex or a similarly firm material.

#4 · Best firm topper

Polysleep’s Firm Topper is the best firm mattress topper sold direct in Canada — on design and terms, not on test results, because nobody has published one. Polysleep describes it as a 2-inch topper “engineered for those who want a sturdier sleep surface,” ideal for back and stomach sleepers, made from breathable open-cell foam. It ships free to all ten provinces, costs C$350 for a queen, and has a ten-year warranty, the longest on this page.

The big drawback is stated plainly on Polysleep’s page: there’s no trial and no returns. Polysleep says this is for hygiene. That means you should only buy it if you’re confident the problem is “slightly too soft,” not “sagging.” Polysleep also sells a 2-inch ventilated, antimicrobial memory foam topper at the same C$350 queen price, on the same no-returns terms.

The two cheaper firm routes are the firm side of the Endy Dual-Comfort (rated about 8/10 by Endy, with a trial) and IKEA’s NISSEHOLM — 5 cm of high-resilience “cold foam” that IKEA pitches for people who prefer a firmer feel. At C$179 for a queen with 365 days to return it, NISSEHOLM is the low-risk experiment.

If none of these is enough, the mattress is the problem. A medium-firm Canadian bed like the Endy Medium-Firm (C$895 queen list) costs less than three Polysleep toppers, and our best firm mattress guide covers beds built firm from the start.

Best mattress topper for back pain

The research on mattresses and low-back pain points to medium-firm, not hard. The best-known trial, Kovacs and colleagues in The Lancet (2003), found people with chronic low-back pain did better on medium-firm mattresses than firm ones. For toppers, that means enough cushioning to let shoulders and hips sink slightly, and enough support to keep the spine level. Very plush toppers let the hips sink; very hard ones push back at pressure points.

Our pick for back pain is the Endy Dual-Comfort with the soft side up, which Endy says gives a medium feel. Back sleepers whose bed has softened slightly should try the firm side or the Polysleep Firm. The Puffy Deluxe in Firm is the memory foam option with the most independent testing behind it. Avoid thick, plush layers if you sleep on your back or stomach — the 7 cm IKEA NORRSELE, made from plush 38 kg/m³ polyfoam, is a guest-bed topper, not a back-pain topper.

Be honest about the cause. If your back pain started as your mattress aged, the mattress is the likelier culprit, and a topper on a worn-out bed treats the symptom for a few months. Our best mattress for back pain guide ranks beds built for spinal support, and persistent pain is a reason to see a clinician, not just a reason to buy foam.

Best mattress topper for side sleepers

Side sleepers are the people toppers help most. Lying on your side puts your weight on the shoulder and hip, and a too-firm mattress pushes back hard at exactly those points. Sleep Foundation’s firmness guide puts most side sleepers in the soft-to-medium range, and 2–3 inches of memory foam or soft latex is the classic fix.

Our pick for side sleepers is the Puffy Deluxe in Soft. It’s the deepest memory foam layer on this list (2.5 inches) and the one with independent backing for side-sleeping comfort. If you’d rather avoid foam, Obasan’s Deluxe is the natural alternative: 1.5 inches of organic latex between layers of wool, which Obasan describes as offering “extra cushioning at the shoulders and hips.” The Endy soft side is the budget pick.

A warning for heavier side sleepers: thin, soft toppers can “bottom out,” letting you sink through to the hard mattress below. Tom’s Guide flags this on the Puffy Deluxe for people over about 250 lb. If that’s you, go thicker — the 3-inch Natural Mattress latex or the 3.5-inch Obasan Grand — or consider whether a softer mattress is the real answer. Our best mattress for side sleepers guide covers beds with that pressure relief built in.

Canadian-made latex and wool toppers

If “made in Canada” and “no polyurethane foam” matter to you, two small Canadian makers stand out. Both are expensive, both are built from certified natural materials, and both trade the convenience of a mattress-in-a-box topper for durability: GoodBed considers all latex “a very durable and high-quality material,” and Tom’s Guide puts latex topper life at five to fifteen years.

Obasan makes three wool-and-latex toppers in what it calls its carbon-neutral workshop in Ottawa: the Classic (1.5 inches, with ¾ inch of latex, C$949 queen), the Deluxe (2.5 inches, 1.5 inches of latex, C$1,249) and the Grand (3.5 inches, C$1,749). Each wraps GOLS-certified organic latex in GOTS-certified organic wool and organic cotton, with no petroleum-based foams or chemical flame retardants. The Deluxe is the one most people should buy: the Classic is too thin to change a bed much, and the Grand costs nearly as much as a good new mattress.

Know the rules before you order. Obasan accepts returns of unopened products only and asks you to open the topper within 30 days of delivery, so there is effectively no sleep trial. The topper can’t be washed or get wet — spot-clean only — and Obasan says to flip and rotate it every two to four weeks or risk voiding the three-year warranty. There are no straps; Obasan says the topper’s weight plus a protector and sheets keep it in place.

Check price at Natural Mattress Source: Natural Mattress

Natural Mattress is the latex topper for people who want 3 inches. Its topper uses a GOLS and Rainforest Alliance certified latex core wrapped in Canadian wool and an organic cotton and hemp cover, with elastic straps on each corner. A queen is C$1,295 in 2 inches or C$1,395 in 3. It’s a small operation — the product page had just three reviews — and the page doesn’t state a firmness, latex type (Dunlop or Talalay) or return policy, so ask before you pay. For whole beds built this way, see our best latex mattress and best organic mattress guides.

Cheap mattress toppers: IKEA, Costco and Amazon.ca

You don’t have to spend C$400. In Canada, the cheapest toppers we could verify come from IKEA, and IKEA has a hidden advantage: its 365-day return promise applies to toppers, which no direct-to-consumer brand here matches. These are the five toppers IKEA Canada lists:

  • NÄSTABERG (C$249 queen) — 4.5 cm memory foam with phase-change gel and a warm/cool side; our pick of the five.
  • NORDBERGET (C$229) — 4.5 cm memory foam at 3.1 lb/ft³ for a “snug feel”; the best-rated of the five on ikea.ca.
  • NISSEHOLM (C$179) — 5 cm high-resilience foam, the firm option.
  • NORRSELE (C$249) — 7 cm of plush 38 kg/m³ polyfoam; soft but low density.
  • NÄSFJÄLLET (C$169) — 4 cm of 1.7 lb standard foam; fine for a guest bed or a sofa bed.

Costco.ca and Amazon.ca are where many Canadians actually buy toppers. We tried to check both and couldn’t load their topper listings or current return terms, so we can’t recommend specific products from either. If you shop there, use the same filters as this page: foam of at least 2 inches, a published density (4 lb/ft³ or more for memory foam, per GoodBed), a removable cover or a plan to use a protector, and — on Amazon.ca — a listing sold by Amazon or the brand itself, so the return window is clear.

Affiliate search link. We haven’t vetted individual Amazon.ca listings.

Canadian topper return policies compared

With mattresses, Canadian brands compete on trials, and 365 nights is now standard. With toppers there’s no standard at all, and it’s the single biggest difference between these products. A topper you can’t return is a gamble: the whole point is to change how your bed feels, and you won’t know whether it worked until you’ve slept on it.

Our advice: if you’re unsure what feel you need, buy from a seller with a real sleep trial — IKEA, Puffy, Endy or Hush — and save the no-returns options (Polysleep, Obasan) for when you know exactly what you want.

What a topper really costs per year, in CAD

Topper prices look small next to mattress prices, but toppers wear out faster. Dividing price by lifespan gives a fairer comparison, and it shows something most topper marketing won’t: a premium foam topper can cost as much per year as a new Canadian mattress.

A C$250 Endy topper over two to five years costs C$50–125 a year. A C$499 Hush works out at C$100–250 — overlapping the C$112–149 a year of a new Endy Mattress at its C$895 queen list price over six to eight years. The natural latex toppers look expensive up front but, if they last as long as latex usually does, come in at C$83–279 a year. The takeaway: cheap foam toppers are great value on a sound bed, but if your mattress is near the end of its life, a premium topper costs about the same per year as replacing it — and only the new mattress fixes support.

Which topper material and thickness should you choose?

Tom’s Guide says to “always choose a mattress topper that’s between 2″ and 4″” — any thinner and it won’t change the feel, any thicker and the bed gets too squishy. That rule matters in Canada because several toppers sold here are thinner: IKEA’s range runs 4 to 7 cm, and the Obasan Classic is 1.5 inches. Match material and thickness to the job:

  • Memory foam, 2–2.5″ — the go-to for softening a firm bed and for side sleepers. Endy, Puffy or Hush.
  • Firm foam, 2″ — for a bed that’s slightly too soft but still flat. Polysleep Firm, Endy’s firm side or IKEA NISSEHOLM.
  • Latex and wool, 2.5–3.5″ — the long-life option for hot sleepers and anyone avoiding polyurethane. Obasan Deluxe or Natural Mattress 3″.
  • Anything under 2″ — a mattress pad, really. Fine for a guest bed or a touch of comfort, not for fixing a problem.

Two Canadian sizing notes. A Canadian “double” is the same 54 × 75 inch bed Americans call a full, and Obasan and IKEA list both names. And every inch of topper raises your bed, so if you’re adding 2.5 inches or more, check that your fitted sheets have deep enough pockets. Our mattress firmness guide explains how firmness ratings translate to body weight and position.

Mattress topper vs new mattress: which do you need?

A topper changes the surface of a bed; it doesn’t change the support underneath. TechRadar warns that “even the thickest mattress topper will still sink into the saggy parts” of a worn mattress. A topper can extend the life of a bed that’s still in good shape. It can’t revive one that isn’t.

Canadians have one extra option that’s easy to forget: the trial. If you bought a Douglas, Endy or Silk & Snow mattress in the last year and it feels wrong, you’re probably still inside a 365-night trial. Exchanging the mattress for a different firmness costs nothing, and it fixes the actual problem. Buying a topper to rescue a mattress you could still return is a common and expensive mistake.

When the mattress is sound, a topper is excellent value — a guest bed that’s fine but hard, a partner who wants a softer surface, a cottage mattress that’s comfortable enough for weekends. If the flowchart points to a new bed, start with our best mattress Canada rankings, the mattress in a box Canada guide, or the Silk & Snow review for the value hybrid. And whichever you buy, put a mattress protector over it: most foam toppers can’t be washed, and Obasan’s can’t get wet at all.

What we couldn’t verify (and why it matters)

We’d rather tell you what’s missing than fill the gaps with guesses. These are the toppers and retailers you might expect on this page that aren’t here, and why:

  • Douglas: as of October 2026, Douglas’s product catalogue lists a mattress protector but no topper, so there’s no Douglas topper to recommend.
  • Silk & Snow: its site blocked our checks, so we couldn’t confirm whether it currently sells a topper, at what price, or on what terms.
  • Sleep Country, Costco.ca, Amazon.ca and Walmart.ca: we couldn’t load their topper listings or return pages. Many popular Canadian toppers are sold through these stores.
  • Independent tests: apart from the Puffy Deluxe, we found no published independent tests of these Canadian toppers. Our picks rest on specs, materials, terms and the general findings of US topper testing.
  • Missing specs: Endy, Puffy, Hush and Polysleep don’t publish topper foam density, and Natural Mattress doesn’t state latex type or firmness.

If you know of a Canadian topper with published density figures and a real sleep trial that we’ve missed, it would beat most of this list. We’ll update the page as we verify more. Shopping across the border? Our US mattress topper guide covers 12 picks with independent test results, though most of those brands don’t ship to Canada.

Mattress topper FAQ (Canada)

What is the best mattress topper in Canada?

For most people, the Endy Dual-Comfort Mattress Topper: 2 inches with a soft memory foam side and a firm side, corner straps, a washable cover, a 100-night trial and a five-year warranty for C$250 in a queen. The Puffy Deluxe (C$434 queen at puffy.ca) is the pick with the strongest independent test record.

Does Endy make a mattress topper?

Yes. The Endy Dual-Comfort Mattress Topper is 2 inches thick, with memory foam on one side (about 5/10 firmness, per Endy) and firm high-density foam on the other (about 8/10). It costs C$250 for a queen, has a 100-night trial and a five-year limited warranty when bought from endy.com.

Does Douglas or Silk & Snow sell a mattress topper?

Douglas’s product catalogue listed a mattress protector but no topper as of October 2026. We couldn’t verify Silk & Snow’s current topper range because its site blocked our checks.

Can I return a mattress topper in Canada?

It depends entirely on the seller. IKEA Canada offers returns within 365 days, Puffy Canada shows a 365-night trial, and Endy and Hush offer 100 nights. Polysleep offers no trial or returns on toppers, and Obasan accepts unopened returns only.

What is the best firm mattress topper in Canada?

The Polysleep Firm Topper (2 inches, C$350 queen, 10-year warranty) is designed for back and stomach sleepers, but it can’t be returned. The firm side of the Endy Dual-Comfort and IKEA’s NISSEHOLM (C$179) are lower-risk alternatives.

Is a wool or latex mattress topper worth it?

If you sleep hot, want to avoid polyurethane foam or plan to keep it for years, yes. Tom’s Guide puts latex topper life at 5 to 15 years versus 2 to 5 for memory foam. Canadian-made options include Obasan’s Ottawa-made wool and latex toppers (from C$949 queen) and Natural Mattress’s latex topper (C$1,295–1,395 queen).

Can a mattress topper fix a sagging mattress?

No. A topper follows the shape of the mattress underneath, so it sinks into the dip. TechRadar says a sagging bed needs replacing. If your mattress is still inside a Canadian brand’s 365-night trial, exchanging it is usually better than buying a topper.

How thick should a mattress topper be?

Between 2 and 4 inches (5 to 10 cm), per Tom’s Guide. Several toppers sold in Canada are thinner — IKEA’s range is 4 to 7 cm — and act more like mattress pads. Choose 2 to 2.5 inches for most foam toppers and 3 inches for latex.
